Who This Is For

Bilingual therapy for Spanish-speaking Texans — and everyone navigating two languages, two cultures, or both.

🌎
Bilingual adults navigating two worlds

Whether you think in Spanish, English, or both depending on the day — you deserve a therapist who can meet you in the language that fits the moment.

🏡
First and second generation individuals

The pressure of holding family expectations, cultural identity, and personal needs all at once is real. We understand that context matters in therapy.

💼
Professionals and caregivers

High-functioning adults who are managing a lot — work, family, community — and who need support that respects their capacity and doesn't talk down to them.

🎖
Veterans and military families

Clinically informed support for veterans navigating PTSD, transition, substance use, and the particular weight of service — in English or Spanish.

👨‍👩‍👧
Families across Texas

Virtual therapy means you can access quality bilingual care from anywhere in the state — no commute, no barriers, no having to explain your culture before you can explain your problem.

🌱
Anyone who has felt unseen in therapy before

If past therapy felt generic, culturally tone-deaf, or like you spent more time translating your experience than actually working through it — this is a different kind of care.

Meet Alejandra

Meet Alejandra Mercado, LCSW-S — Bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist serving Texas via telehealth.

Alejandra Mercado is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S) with nine years of clinical experience in high-acuity federal and pediatric settings. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish — not just conversational, but clinically fluent in both languages — and brings a deep commitment to culturally competent, affirming care to every client she works with.

Alejandra has spent much of her career working with Veterans through the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she served as a Lead Social Worker in Substance Use Disorder treatment programs and as a Social Worker for homeless Veterans navigating complex mental health and housing crises. She is trained in CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care, and she brings that clinical depth to her virtual practice.

"Healing is more possible when you don't have to translate yourself first. I want my clients to be able to show up fully — in whatever language that means."

She also holds specialized training in immigration evaluations by mental health clinicians — an area of growing need for bilingual clinicians serving Texas communities. Her background in pediatric medical social work at Driscoll Children's Hospital adds a depth of experience with families navigating chronic illness, grief, and crisis that informs her work with adults today.

Alejandra is currently accepting cash pay clients at $125 per session. Aetna credentialing is in progress — join the waitlist to be notified when insurance is accepted.

Our Approach

Evidence-based bilingual therapy — CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care in English and Spanish.

Bilingual therapy at Sentient Path is not just translation. It is therapy that understands the cultural context, family dynamics, and lived experience that shape how you see yourself and how you move through the world.

Our clinicians use evidence-based approaches — CBT, ACT, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing — and apply them in a way that is culturally grounded, not culturally generic.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
A structured, evidence-based approach to understanding and shifting the thought patterns that drive anxiety, depression, and distress. Adapted for cultural context and bilingual delivery.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps clients build psychological flexibility — the ability to move toward what matters even when life is difficult. Particularly effective for chronic stress, grief, and identity-related challenges.
Trauma-Informed Care
All clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed principles — recognizing that safety, trust, and the therapeutic relationship are prerequisites for real healing, not just nice-to-haves.
Cultural Competence
Therapy that understands the role of family, community, identity, and cultural expectation — not as background noise, but as central to who you are and what you need.

Common Questions

Common questions about bilingual therapy in Texas

Do I have to speak Spanish to work with your bilingual therapists?

No. Our bilingual clinicians work with clients in English, Spanish, or a mix of both — whatever feels most natural to you. Many bilingual clients switch between languages depending on the topic or the emotion. That is completely welcome here.

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

Research consistently shows that telehealth therapy is as effective as in-person therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and most common mental health concerns. It also removes barriers — no commute, no childcare logistics, no having to take time off work.

What does "cash pay" mean? Do I need insurance?

Cash pay means you pay directly for sessions without going through insurance. The rate is $125 per session. You do not need insurance to start. We are working on Aetna credentialing and will notify the waitlist as soon as it is active.

What if I have Aetna but want to start now?

You are welcome to start as a cash pay client now and transition to insurance billing once Aetna credentialing is complete. Join the waitlist so we can reach out to you directly when that happens.

Where are sessions held?

All bilingual therapy sessions are conducted virtually via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can attend from anywhere in Texas — home, office, or wherever you have privacy and a reliable connection.

How do I get started?

Start by reserving a phone consultation. It takes about 10 minutes, there is no paperwork required, and it gives us a chance to understand what you are looking for and confirm we are a good fit before scheduling your first session.

If you are in crisis, please call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. This website is not a crisis service.
